Cradle of Aviation Museum Restoration Volunteers Restore German Aircraft

Cradle of Aviation Museum volunteers are completing a decade-long restoration of a Fokker D.VII replica, one of World War 1's top aircraft. Donated in 2014, the plane offers a glimpse into early military aviation.

Cradle of Aviation Museum restoration volunteers are near the end of a ten-year journey to restore a historically accurate Fokker D.VII replica. With its cutting-edge design, historians consider the German-produced Fokker D.Vll, one of the best planes of World War 1.

This remarkable aircraft, donated by the late Riverhead collector John Talmage in 2014, is an aircraft Cradle of Aviation Museum Curator Josh Stoff hopes will give visitors a sense of military might from 100-plus years ago.
